Trophy Club Mayor Declares Local Disaster

State of Disaster

To the Residents of Trophy Club,

Trophy Club Mayor Nick Sanders has declared a local disaster. Trophy Club has an agreement with Denton County Emergency Management to assist the Town with the management of local disasters which allows the Town to fall under the umbrella of the Denton County Disaster Declaration.

However, to ensure that residents and local businesses qualify for any and all disaster relief/recovery services available the Mayor decided to declare a Local Disaster.  The Local Disaster Declaration is effective today March 20th, 2020 and it shall remain in effect until March 27th, 2020.

Mayor Sanders and Town Council strongly recommend that all Trophy Club residents and businesses follow the guidance given by the CDC, the Public Health Departments and through Proclamations from the President, the Governor and our County Judge.

Town Hall and all town facilities are now closed for all public access. Town employees are equipped and will be working remotely and are/will be provided leave to care for family members, as outlined in the Presidential Order.  Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services will remain in operation at all times. We ensure that our first responders stand ready for any emergency, and are committed to maintaining public safety and the welfare of our residents. Town gathering places (such as restaurants, churches, etc) are to follow guidelines issued by the CDC and Gov. Abbott’s executive order.

Additionally, the Town Council will plan to meet on Tuesday, March 24th for their scheduled Town Council meeting, however, at this time, we encourage our residents to watch from home rather than attend.  If you chose to attend, we ask that you keep a 6ft distance from others and adhere to the CDC recommendations for gatherings.  If you have a question or comment related to any item on the agenda, please email it to MayorandCouncil@trophyclub.org by 6 pm on Tuesday and it will be answered and entered into the record during the meeting.  We will not be accepting live comments, but we do want to hear from you so please feel free to send them in beforehand.

We know these next few weeks are going to be tough on everyone.  Please extend an extra amount of kindness in the upcoming weeks to each other. We will get through this together. Be safe and stay healthy, Trophy Club.

Sincerely,

Mayor Nick C. Sanders and Mayor Pro Tem Philip Shoffner
