Trophy Club Police Department welcomes Steve Woodard as the new Captain of the Patrol Division.

Steve Woodard served as a police lieutenant with the Irving Police Department.  He began his career in 1984 as a patrol officer and he soon transferred to the Criminal Investigation Division.  Steve soon moved to the narcotics section of Irving PD.  His next assignment was to the cities’ SWAT team.  After spending five years on SWAT, Steve was assigned to the Irving Police Training Academy.  Steve earned his teaching certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE), and routinely taught continuing education classes for veteran officers.

After three years as a training officer, Steve promoted to the rank of sergeant.  As a sergeant, Steve remained assigned to the academy, coordinating the continuing education needs of the department’s 300 officers.  After a total of five years in the academy, Steve served a short period in the Patrol Operations Division managing line officers, before promoting to lieutenant.

Steve was eventually placed in his final assignment in Irving, with oversight of the Crimes Against Persons unit.  During the last five years, Steve has been accountable for every major crime scene investigated by Irving investigators.

Steve has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Dallas Baptist University.  He is a graduate of the School of Police Supervision as well as the Command Management College from the Institute of Law Enforcement Administration.  Steve has over 2700 hours of law enforcement training.  He is a firearms instructor as certified by TCOLE.

Steve and his wife, Stacy, have been married for 24 years.  They enjoy spending time with their two children as well as their granddaughter and extended church family.  They love ocean cruises, outdoor sports, and worship music.
