The Texas Department of State Health Services has reported the first case of Zika virus disease contracted in Texas, with the possibility of sexual transmission from an infected person who had recent travel history from areas where Zika is currently being transmitted. Primary transmission of all previous cases in Texas has been related to foreign travel.  At this time, there have been no cases of Zika virus contracted or imported into Denton County.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will conduct a Public Meeting for the purpose of soliciting public comment on the proposed widening of State Highway (SH) 114 from Trophy Lake Drive to Kirkwood Boulevard, and SH 170 from East of Roanoke Road to West of SH 114 Interchange, in Denton and Tarrant County, Texas.

Trophy Club is making history as the first municipality in the state of Texas to achieve an investment grade rating on a Public Improvement District (PID) bond and to realize over $16.4M in total savings with a subsequent refinancing. The $16.4M refund for PID residents results in approximately $11,675 savings in future assessments over the life of the bond to each property owner who had not previously paid off their assessments. The Trophy Club Women’s Club and the Town have partnered to organize a Veterans Day Observance ceremony on November 11th at 4:15 pm at the Military Veterans Memorial in Trophy Club (501 Parkview). Joined by special guest Congressman Michael Burgess, participants will honor Veterans with a flag presentation, color guard, Veterans poem and more. Everyone is invited to attend as we give thanks and remembrance to those who have sacrificed for our freedoms.

Update (December 2, 2015) --- Denton County Health Department officials have confirmed two human cases of West Nile Virus (WNV) in Trophy Club. One resident lives on Pebble Beach and the other lives on Sherwood, and both contracted the milder form of the virus (West Nile fever). Officials believe the individuals were likely bit in October and diagnosed in November.

So far in 2015 Denton County has eight (9) confirmed human cases and Trophy Club has two (2) of those cases.

Denton County Health Department – The Denton County Health Department (DCHD) is reporting its first human case of West Nile Virus (WNV).  The Texas Department of State Health Services confirmed the case of WNV in a Lewisville resident today.

Town Council will canvass the election results at the November 13, 2015 Special Call Meeting at 8:30 a.m. in the Svore Municipal Building Boardroom (100 Municipal Dr.).
